Lens flare is a visual effect that simulates light scattering in a camera lens, creating bright streaks, ghost circles, hexagonal bokeh shapes, and halos. It occurs when bright light sources interact with optical elements, producing characteristic artifacts and glow patterns.

The algorithm detects the brightest region in each frame, uses it as a light source, then generates multiple overlay elements: radial gradients for main glow, colored ghost circles along the light-to-center line, rotating hexagonal bokeh shapes, and light streaks. These are composited using screen blend mode with dynamic shimmer effects.

Main glow uses radial gradients from white to orange. Ghost circles are colored shapes interpolated between light source and center. Hexagonal bokeh mimics lens aperture shape with rotation. Light streaks use linear gradients with rotation based on light direction. All elements combine with screen blending.
